EMALTE, under contract to Prospect Group, designed and delivered the Copperlode Dam Early Warning System. The Copperlode Dam is located above the Redlynch Valley, north of Cairns, QLD, Australia.
The system comprises 9 outdoor warning stations, 2 control centres, and 5 radio repeaters.
Designed using Whelen WPS2900 series mass notification systems and Whelen Control Centre hardware the system stands by ready to alert residents in the event of potential dam failure.
Daily silent testing of the system ensures it is in a state of readiness should activation be required.
The system uses the ALERT-INFORM-DIRECT approach with a combination of Siren tones, pre-recorded messages and live PA announcements used to ensure that the members of the public are well informed, there is no confusion nor panic.
